KRANZ — PACKUNGEN KUHRMEIER GMBH
KRANZ Compressor Components

About us

KRANZ – Packungen introduces itself ...

KRANZ was founded in 1906. Outstanding success has been obtained in developing stuffing boxes to be used in the high pressure service.

Our high pressure packing „type K“ was developed and patented in 1927 in connection with the introduction of various ammonia high pressure syntheses, at a pressure range up to 1000 bar/ 14503 psi

KRANZ was the first company introducing PTFE from the United States into the European compressors market in 1958. For decades we manufactured compressor components meeting successfully both sealing and life requirements in all kind of applications up to 3500 bar/ 50763 psi.

Our packing type G, with various forms of sealing elements, formed the basis for the next stages of development: solving the sealing problems of non-lubricated compressors, increased use of plastics, and seals for high-pressure compressors with operating pressures of up to 3500 bar.

On the basis of this long-standing experience and the continuous further development of our designs and materials, we can offer a solution to your sealing problems for practically all operating conditions that occur.

For decades we have manufactured not only packings but also valves for hyper compressors. We have continuously extended our product range and also supply valves for compressors in all other pressure ranges.

This means you can obtain all the major wearing parts for your compressors from a single source.

Service

Service

Our service offer: Repair and reconditioning of Valves, packings and piston rods, even from other manufacturers.

Valves are subject to constant wear and are also frequently exposed to heavy contamination. Regular maintenance dependent on the actual operating conditions is therefore an absolute must.

We offer a maintenance and repair service for all valves, irrespective of their type or origin. This service includes dismantling, cleaning, rectification and any necessary replacement of individual parts. The valves are then tested to ensure that they are working perfectly, using the latest test and inspection methods.

The packing housings also wear during the course of time. The sealing surfaces in particular no longer fulfil their function and have to be reconditioned. We will repair your packings, no matter what type or make they are. The packings are disassembled, cleaned, reconditioned and if necessary completed with individual housings. After lapping the sealing surfaces, the packing is reassembled with new sealing elements and you get back a packing as good as new.

Packings

Packings are produced by us for all different needs.

Packings for lubricated and non-lubricated compressors, for standard low-pressure air compressors up to special high-pressure packings for pressures even higher than 3000 bar.

The packings are designed for the different kinds of operating conditions and compressor types. Selection of the material for the sealing rings and the design of the housing, including flow cooling, are of decisive importance of the perfect working.

Our range of delivery:

PACKINGS for lubricated operation with seals made of metal, PTFE and other plastics

DRY-RUNNING PACKINGS with seals made of PTFE, carbon and plastics such as polyamides, polyimides

HIGH-PRESSURE PACKINGS up to 3500 bar

OIL SCRAPER PACKINGS and OIL SCRAPER RINGS

ACCESSORIES such as flanges, guide bushes, cooling jackets etc.

PISTON and RIDER RINGS made of PTFE, other plastics and metal

PISTON RODS made from various steels, untreated, surface hardened or coated with corrosion-proof and wear-proof materials, such as nickel-chromium alloys, ceramics, meta-oxide and metal-carbide alloys

Valves

For decades, we have also manufactured valves for hyper-compressors. We have continuously extended our product range, and we also supply valves for compressors in all other pressure ranges.

Our range of delivery:

SUCTION and DISCHARGE VALVES

We supply suction and discharge valves for all known compressors in an extremely wide variety of sizes, designs and materials. The quality of KRANZ products is renowned all over the world and is your guarantee that you will obtain the best possible solution for your valves. The valves and materials are designed and selected according to the individual operating conditions.

VALVE and DAMPER PLATES

Valve and damper plates, tailor-made for the specific application. Optimum efficiency and service life are of crucial importance in choosing the right design. If appropriate and possible, we can also convert for example from steel to non-metallic type and recalculate the valves you are currently using.

PLATE TYPES

Valve plates made of various thermoplastics are used in addition to plates made of steel. Non-metallic plates offer crucial advantages under certain conditions, such as in compression of contaminated or wet gases. For example, there is normally less wear of the valve seat as well as a lower energy requirement. Specially selected plastics are suitable for operating temperatures up to 250°C.

We also supply ring and channel valves.

VALVES and SPARE PARTS

We also supply valves of all kinds — for example non-return valves, suction valves with or without unloaders — and spare parts to your specifications. The design and materials are matched precisely to each other to guarantee perfect running and the maximum possible service life.

HIGH PRESSURE COMPRESSOR VALVES

Our state-of-the-art products are packings and valves in high-pressure compressors from various manufacturers for polyethylene synthesis at operating pressures up to 3500 bars. It goes without saying that all of our customers, including those in other product groups, gain the benefit of our absolute requirements for accuracy of production, material selection and test methods

Hyper parts

For decades we manufactured valves, complete packings, sealing rings and piston rings for hyper compressors which have been successful in meeting the sealing and life requirements in all kind of applications up to 3500 bar.

Our range of delivery:

VALVES for HYPER COMPRESSORS

This type of poppet valve consists of two poppets. Valve body, seat and guard. Other valves like multiple poppet valves are also supplied. They are manufactured of the highest strength steel.

PACKING CUPS

Our high-pressure packings are specially designed for each application. Two different types of packings are available: Packing cups of two or three single housings of different materials are shrunk together. Housing cups which are completed with the cylinder-bush and the valve intermediate piece.

SEALING RINGS

Sealing rings for hyper compressors are designed in various shapes. They are generally made with radial and tangent cuts. 3-piece or 6-piece tangent types, the latter manufactured of two different materials. Various special bronze qualities for hyper application are used with outstanding success. Thermo plastic material is also available up to a certain pressure.

3-PARTITE PISTON RING SET

For plunger sealing KRANZ has developed a 3-partite piston ring manufactured of special bronze which has proven its quality for years in various different hyper compressors.

Other

It goes without saying that you can purchase all the major wearing parts for your compressors from us.

Our range of delivery for miscellaneous wearing parts:

SEALING RINGS for packings, supplemented by BACK-UP RINGS, PRESSURE RINGS and THROTTLE RINGS

OIL SCRAPER RINGS, with tangent and radial cuts. These rings are made of metal, PTFE and other plastics.

PISTON- and RIDER RINGS, mainly made from plastics (particularly PTFE). We have developed specially designed piston rings made of special bronzes for application in LDPE high-pressure compressors.

PISTON RODS made from a variety of steels, untreated, hardened or coated according to the latest coating processes.
